Remember the visit on vacation (something like that went back there) very positively.

Super great restaurant. The staff is friendly and courteous, the food is sensational, and the hosts are phenomenal. Here is also the nicest beer garden I've been to so far. The hall invites you to great family celebrations and parties of all kinds. "Tradition meets modern"

I was very lucky to have my dinner before the lock-down of city. Staff, atmosphere and foods were just great. Highly recommended 👍

The food is home-style. Very tasty price performance fits. The staff do stone jobs well. But the little dot for the five stars is a bit missing.

In the field service I travel a lot in Bavaria, but I have never eaten as well as in the Gasthaus Unterstein and at these low prices. The staff was very friendly and attentive and you can tell these people understand their trade. Any time.

Great food, good portions, nice service. Our vacation couldn't start better

The wait staff seemed overwhelmed. You had the feeling that the staff was annoyed when new guests came. They were also pointed out to the other guests that it could take longer. At the next table came the sentence: We only have 2 hands. The restaurant in the beer garden was half full and the restaurant was occupied by about 4 families. A few days before we were turned away because everything should be occupied ??? We didn't see it. The food was good, the amount could be more, the Aperol tasted like water. Unfortunately, the hygiene regulations were also not observed. We use the other restaurants where the price / performance ratio is right.

Nice beer garden, was not that easy to find an open beer garden on Saturday when the weather was great. Actually incomprehensible. Good service, I wanted to leave out a side dish because of a low-germ diet, and without being asked, I was offered another one that I can eat. Very tasty knuckle, rind crispy, without being burnt, with tender meat. Half a chicken very juicy. I would deduct half a star because I had ordered without a fresh garnish and then stuck a lonely sprig of rosemary in the chicken. Otherwise everything was as ordered. Certainly not the last time there. Addendum: Yes, the prices almost surpass Munich standards, but unfortunately that is generally the case here. But the portions are decent, we both took meat with us, just ask for containers.

Despite the rather bad rating, we went to eat at the Unterstein. We got a table at short notice by phone. We received a friendly welcome and the food was very tasty. Price performance are very good in our opinion. Gladly again 😊👍🏻

Service mediocre - food too. The three of us went to the restaurant at lunchtime. Since we were traveling with a baby, I asked for a high chair. I was allowed to get it myself and clean it first. The chair was very dirty with dried-on food residue. In Corona times, that raised questions. The staff watched the guest cleaning the chair at least from a safe distance. No support! I ordered roast beef with onions and fried potatoes. The food came after about 20 minutes. The meat was still okay. The enclosed potatoes had nothing to do with fried potatoes, they were just short-fried potato pieces. They didn't taste good at all. I expected steamed / fried onions from the pan - I got very sweet and over-fried slices of onion. You couldn't eat it up. That was nothing and it is definitely better. The second star is because the food for my wife (bratwurst with mashed potatoes) was okay on average.

Unfortunately a failure. Without a reservation we were seated at a table with a dismissive face and no words. Then the drinks were taken, which were on the table after 10 minutes. From the rather small evening menu, a bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut and a potato salad with chicken strips were ordered. We had to wait 45 minutes for our meal, even though almost all of the guests had already had their meal. During that time nobody took care of us or told us how long it could take. Unfortunately, the food was also a disappointment. The mashed potatoes were completely salty and the potato salad soaked in oil. Other guests after us were sent away, although there were still vacancies everywhere that were not reserved. Service is different. I come from the catering trade myself and even when it gets stressful in the evening, such poor service is simply inappropriate.

Excellent cuisine, large selection for vegetarians too! very friendly brisk staff! Very nice large garden. Have been here twice in a row and will definitely be back!

Was here for the first time almost two weeks ago. Had my two dogs with him in the beer garden was not a problem. I cannot confirm unfriendliness at all. The two young women were very friendly and also offered water for the dogs. The star deduction is because I get the same dishes in other local places significantly larger. But I will be back

Friendly, honest and courteous service! We were immediately informed that it could take a little longer to eat! But were pleasantly surprised, the food was very tasty and the portions were not too big, but not too small either! Also very nice beer garden with rustic live music! 👍

The restaurant was recommended to us and we had reserved a place in the really huge beer garden. It is a matter of taste that this white gravel has as a base, it is not our thing. Contrary to other reviews, the provisions of the containment regulation were strictly observed. The service was courteous, I wouldn't call them friendly. The waiting period was okay at first, but did not improve with the decrease in the number of guests, which was initially strongly represented. The food was good average, the price-performance ratio probably still okay. Conclusion: you can go there.

Visited the beer garden at Gasthaus Unterstein twice this week. In contrast to many recessions before, we were served quickly and hospitable. The food was good and tasty and was served within 20 minutes of ordering. To top it off, we even had a musi! A small note to the service: The mouth-nose protection only works if you pull it over your nose. Interestingly, this is a female service issue and not a male one.

Super delicious food. Highly recommended dessert. Never eaten so well in Berchtesgaden and the surrounding area. Waiting time was not too long, exactly fitting. Service staff very attentive and friendly. Would love to come back. February 2020

2018: Delicious food. Great beer garden to sit. Staff friendly and fast 2019: Food was pretty good. Boss disgusting behavior. Had wet tables and chairs from the rain and should take a rag himself and wipe it away. Other guest was not served by her because it is not her job. ⭐⭐

Been here twice in a row now. This place has amazing food and beer and are well priced for the food they serve. The chef's do an amazing job and I was very happy with the food we got on both occasions. Waiters are hard working but are happy and treat you well which is a great bonus. Overall would definitely recommend this beer garden!

It looks like a lovely biergarten for locals.. but its a tourist trap: overpriced, dirty and rude waiters. I went to this place for some ice cream and a cup of tea. The waiter wasn't very friendly at the moment of taking the order, maybe he was stressed. The tea arrived in a dirty glass and the water wasn't hot as it should be. A bit later the waiter came with the question if it was ok for the icecream without whip cream as they run out. I thought it was a good sign that they run out of things: it must have been fresh whip cream... 2 minutes later a pathetic cup arrived with 3 scoops of ice cream the size of cherries. While eating the waiter started cleaning tables around me and remove seat cushions... also the one on which my arm was leaning. At the moment of payment I made a remark about the icecream and that I was lucky he didnt remove my chair while eating... I got as reply: that is how it goes here. €9.60 for a cold dirty tea and the most pathetic ice cream.

Rarely do I give 2 stars, but reading other people's experience it must be normal. The waiter I know from an other place where he was always friendly, whatever management does here no idea, but rude to me and others for no reason. The food was nothing I would recommend. Just strange in this nice setting.

Excellent meals, Bier, and staff. You will neither go hungry or thirsty. Highly recommended! We had multiple meals here, each was excellent.
